2010 Yuan Yuan Tang Bulang Jipin
£17.00 – £180.00
Top grade Bulang ancient tree tea from Yuan Yuan Tang, Jipin – The Best.
You may notice how this tea is similar in appearance to the Bulang Zhengcangpin / Collection. The difference is that this tea has been blended with Banzhang ancient tree material, and it has been suggested to me that this Banzhang is actually Lao Banzhang. Hence “the best”.
Early in the session it behaves very much like its Bulang cousin. It strikes me as stereotypical Laomane with bold cocoa-bitterness, and no green edge to it. The change happens in mid-session when bitterness subsides and profile becomes more of honey/wood/mushroom, and the Banzhang element becomes more pronounced. Qi builds up gradually and becomes almost euphoric.
Large, approximately 375g cakes with excellent dry natural storage in Taiwan.
I share the same sentiment about this tea as about the pure Bulang cousin, I love the physical appearance and dry leaf aroma, and this one is that touch more special.
Note to self: 7g of this followed by 7g of Yeh Gu will leave you incapacitated, not necessarily recommended.
